You can always pay more for faster speeds. Comcast double speed for the same price. I only $14 bucks for 1 year for 132 down and 20 up I get. Comcast the pick up the rest of the cost. That's the deal after I had cut the cord on CATV and Digital Phone Service.

I get 15/1 (20 burst) from TimeWarner. Old account, grandfathered-in for this rate which now they charge more for.

Internet is part of a TV/Phone/Internet bundle which I took after, ugh, well, "parting ways" with AT&T (forever!).

Standard: $45/mo, 15/1
Turbo: 15/2, ADD $20
Extreme: 20/5, ADD $30
Ultimate: 50/5, ADD $50

I suppose Extreme and Ultimate are DOCSIS 3; not sure.

I hear that Cox is a lot less costly.
U-Verse is here but it is less than awful. And I won't deal with the evil empire at any price.

I had Cox since 2006 to 2011. Prices goes up by the mid 2011 it was costing me for the internet, digital phone HDCATV over $211 and I only had 20 down with boost felt like 30 down but up was only 5.

Down here with Comcast 2011 and now (I've them since 1999 but up there not here they merge with the prior so in 2011 I had them redo all the coax wiring that was dated here. Ran fiber but still it was connected to the old wiring in the house. 3rd Level Service Tech had to re-wire the fiber to the house told me it had to be near the PS to the house instead of being near their box. Okay he starting digging around the yard.

So 15 down then 20 down but they don't offer in my area 30 down so I got the 50 down which is now 105 down but fixing the box (I know) but I get max down is 132 which isn't bad there is no boost on 50 or higher with them. They do have 210 down but don't need that.

50 down was suppose to be $79 if you gone with everything they have. $99 if you don't want anything but internet only.

I get a discount for year, they call it something else but Corp did that for me they were over charging me since 2011 with them you don't get money back you get a reduce price.

D3 modem I own right so cost per month is very low. I'll see if I'll keep the double speed or just get 50 down instead.

Although upload speed is much better than it was at 10 up now 20 up.

Note: When return anything equipment you rented through these CATV companies they're suppose to give you back any money you had to put up front with. Cox doesn't do this will if your were grandfather in but that can change if you change the way your account was.

That's how they get you to pay more or less service!

My TV (basic + one or so tiers up), no sports/movie channels, phone and Internet is about $160/month. Not too happy about that.

Someday we'll get a la carte channel selections. Maybe not if that would lead to lower prices.

Wow your paying: $1,920 per year ouch!

Use the cell phone for your phone and ditch the cable company from managing your phone service. Have you check out HDTV over the Air though HDTV ANT. I get 69 channels more to come. Local channels now have what you get on Cable. So they might have 30.1 have METV and 32.1 COTV, there are now movies shown 24/7.

With Netflix you can really say goodbye to CATV, doesn't make so much sense to keep paying for CATV today. Service is not that great and what you get you might not be watching it so much. SPORTS I don't watch and COX makes you pay for SPORT packages you don't need. Comcast has sort of Netflix that cost $4.95 extra they give it to you but still charge you. I had put a stop to that.

I met this one guy who told me he needed CATV for one show he watches. I said what channel is that on. He said ABC. But you don't need to pay $1,200 a year for CATV just to watch ABC. So he has what I have now. I just increase my HDTV ANT range from 40 miles to 80 miles. Added a second mini HDTV ANT. So there are 2 of the same out there. One for the North/South of FL.

Cell phone.. I get only 300 minutes/mo for $35 (corporate discount for family phone). On the Digital phone, we use 1500 minutes a month. So cellular is too expensive. And quality isn't good enough for the WAF. I tried VoIP with ATA - 3 companies - way too poor.

Off-air HD .. worthless as we watch mostly Discovery, Food, Travel, etc. I don't think these are carried by local broadcasters (as subchannels).

I have netflix - another $10/mo - but the shows and movies we want aren't there. We watch some old PBS and NatGeo on Netflix (ethernet connection in TV).

So I, like many, bend over for the cable company monopoly.

There is a Food Channel over the air on Create Channel also on LWM channel. Too me much better than the Food Channel, but you know you can find everything on Food Channel on their site.Discovery might be something you might want to drop off. PBS stations Nova can replace Discovery Channel. But Travel and the rest again show up on PBS now and then.

Everyone going to be different, but no more CATV for me.. Maybe one day you'll come around to the DTV side. Cell phone we have Corp also but the bill is $150 a month it was $190 just getting them to drop of features and to tell me what this and that charge is for is crazy. Data plan is one of he worst features with Smartphone. Data should be free and included.

my wife is the big TV watcher. PBS has one cooking show and she watches that. Others are on "cooking channel", rather than Food TV. Discovery and all its channels, and Nat Geo/Wild are the staples here. Nova is not a replacement. All this is why we can't go off-air DTV, and have to pay TimeWarner $150/mo for TV/Phone/Internet.
