Need to setup different SSIDs for G and N clients for performance?

Hello,

I have both wireless G and wireless N clients.

For performance, should I create different SSIDs for each frequency.

I am going to be upgrading from an E3000 linksys router.

On the E3000 I set 1 frequency for the N clients and 1 frequency for the G clients.

Is this a good thing to do?

You should have different SSID:s for the 2.4 and the 5 GHz band.
I have the 2.4 GHz band for b/g and the 5 GHz for n-only.
Do the same regarding channel with the help of inSSIDer , set it to a fixed channel Auto.

Just to be clear. 802.11g devices are 2.4 GHz only. 802.11n devices can be single or dual band, i.e. 2.4 and/or 5 GHz.

That said, it is best to assign a unique SSID to each band's radio so that dual-band devices can connect to the desired band.
