@RMerlin, Guest Network in AP mode?

I am forced to run my RT-N66U in AP mode do to the inability to run without my FiOS Fiber modem. I had, for a while, run a double nat network but that cause many headaches and slow connections. Is there any way to have your custom software run a guest network that actually isolates the internal network from internet access. As of now both yours and ASUS official firmware offer the guest network option in AP mode but there is no network isolation. OR is what I ask impossible? Thanks...I enjoy your builds!

It's possible that it's a technical limitation that prevents AP isolation from working while in AP mode. I have never looked at how that particular feature worked exactly.

Also keep in mind that some of the other (wireless or wired) devices might be connected to another router than the Asus one, so the Asus router will have no way of determining to which of these host it should block or allow access. That could be one of the reasons for Asus to not allow AP isolation while in AP mode, as it would only be partly working.

I have not found a way for this to work all in AP/Guest mode even though they say they support it. A Guest Network in no way should be an OPEN network on the same subnet. For them to say it supports Guest Networks is just not right and is false marketing. IMHO.

It was one of the claims that was the reason I purchased it. What a let down.

I have resorted to using an older router just for Guests when they come over just have it get an IP from the main router via DHCP. But I have it setup with lan side on a different net.

I have the same problem with with the rtn66 working as an access point in a network of a compagnie , Is there anybody here who has an idea to block network acces when the router is in ap mode just for a guest account?
