Use a NAS. Many have USB 3.0 ports and you can connect USB 3.0 hard drives to them. They will share files much faster than a router.

Of course you can also plug a USB 3.0 drive into a USB 2.0 socket. On a router it may not make much of a difference in speed since it's so CPU-constrained. On a NAS or a PC it will slow it down, but it will still work fine.

It's USB 3.0 and 2.4 GHz and yes, it's all USB 3.0 devices unless proper shielding is built in. Most manufacturers haven't properly addressed it yet.
