NoCatSplash with Asuswrt?

Hi,

My first post here and it's about a router I don't even have yet

I've heard really good things about RMerlin's firmware for the RT series Asus routers, as well as the Asus routers themselves. I'm seriously considering the RT-AC66U as a replacement for a WRT54G-TM running DD-WRT (BG only).

Other than the standard features (guest ssid being one), I need OpenVPN support (which I understand RMerlin's firmware does really well) and NoCatSplash as a simple captive portal for the guest wifi.

So my questions is, is NoCatSplash (or similar running on the router box) available on the RT-AC66U with the enhanced firmware? If not, is it something that's planned in the next few months or so?

No, there's not captive portal software in Asuswrt-Merlin. I currently don't have any plan to add one, but am not entirely ruling it out for the future. Current focus is more on the existing features (and issues) than the addition of new ones (features OR issues )

You could buy the rt-n66u and flash it with dd-wrt if you wanted.

DD-WRT on the RT-N66U is a PITA, and can lead to a lot of issues, including bricking your router. Look at Tomato instead - I believe it does have NoCatSplash, and is a much safer bet.

I'd love to see the NoCatSplash included in a future update...I hope it happens!

btw, love the Merlin software on my RT-AC66U!
