Since our organization accelerates business applications across the distributed enterprise, we require some D2D backup repository to accelerate file backup and recovery.
Please suggest some rock-solid platform for maintaining backups on-line that can self manage large files like Web 2.0 rich media, video surveillance data.

Take a look at Mozy (http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30393/85/). They have versions from Home to Enterprise needs. There are many others such as Carbonite (http://www.carbonite.com/)and idrive (http://www.idrive.com/).

My favorite, www.jungledisk.com

Be careful with "free" accounts. While they work, they throttle bandwidth and have other limitations. Check first. Also look for a service that supports Rsync, especially if you are expecting to backup large files such as an Outlook.pst file. Rsync will backup only the changed portion of a file. This saves tons of bandwidth and time.

Last, know who you are dealing with. Where do they store your data? Who holds the decryption keys?

I agree, Jungle Disk with Amazon S3 is the only option I would consider.
For all I know, Mozy might go under like many other hosting websites have, leaving you either stranded or extremely inconvenienced.

Not to throw you under the bus, but I would worry more about Carbonite and iDrive and less about Mozy (owned by EMC).

If Jungledisk went out, we wouldn't be able to use JD+ services any longer but could still retrieve data from Amazon. But lets not think about Jungledisk going out, because they have the best Home and SOHO solution.
