I'm looking to get a new router and I'm stuck... I have been reading all the reviews and I'm not to sure what to get or what to do? I do know about computers but when it comes to more of the higher tech stuff, I get confused and don't want to get something I won't need.

Little background first... I currently have a Netgear FVS318v3 router and it is limiting my download speed. It comes with a 12.5 Mbps LAN to WAN throughput 1.2 Mbps and no QoS support.

I have 5 computers attached to the router but my main concern is my online game play.

Lately, I have either had my connections drop from the online game servers or having major lag so I have looked into these three routers to try and solve the problem but not sure which one to get. What I am looking for is a router that will not limit my download speed and will give me the best connection for online gaming without being dropped from the server or slowdowns.

The three routers are D-Link Xtreme N Gaming Router (DGL-4500), Trendnet 300Mbps Wireless N Gigabit Gaming Router (TEW-633GR) and D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router (DIR-655).

I will be using any of these routers wired which is why I am posting this post here but like I said... I could use some good expert advise on which router to get for what I want to do.

Thank you...

That is the article I used to decide on these three routers but mainly I am asking from people who might have personal hands on knowledge as to which of these three routers would best suit my needs?

Now I have been looking at the DGL-4100 because it's the wired version of the DGL-4300 but the DGL-4500 has better QoS support. See what I mean... It's like I have all three in front of me and I keep saying well I like this one cause of this but I like this other one cause of that...

Tim, did you guys ever do a review of the DGL-4100?

Didn't need to. It's the same as the DGL-4300, but without the radio.

If you don't need wireless, don't pay extra for draft 11n.

You didn't say what your up/download speed requirements are. But I think any of the three routers you named will have plenty of throughput for your needs.

Why do you say that the DGL-4500 has better QoS? All three of the routers use Ubicom chipsets, which implement the same StreamEngine automatic QoS.

I didn't know this... Least it's one less thing to think or worry about.

Thanxs...

You can find chipset information in the Router Charts "Compare Features" page.
