HOW: Test & Pack for Freight Ship: New Synology NAS & 2x 1TB Hard Drives HDDs

SITUATION:

CURRENT:
I bought a Synology CS407 and 2 x 1TB Seagate HDDs. They are still in New sealed boxes.

NEEDS (not in any order):

- To test CS407 & the 2 HDDs to ensure I dont have any "faulty" / lemon products.

I am going to have this shipped by FRIEGHT CONTAINER (partial container on a real ship with a lot of other personal stuff - 100 Cu.Ft. or so - Remaining container will be filled by other customers of company). I am set to move from the USA to take up an international assignment

- (SEPERATE) Should I ship the HDDs & NAS in their original boxes
OR
- (CONSOLIDATED) Installed inside the CS407 - Which I will place in the original box "inside" a Box that would have styrofoam pellets.

ADVISE PLEASE:

1) What would be the best / fast way to TEST them ALL (a quick burn just to ensure I did not get the BAD LEMONS of the stock)?

2) What would be the best way to transport them?

Thanks.

1) What would be the best / fast way to TEST them ALL (a quick burn just to ensure I did not get the BAD LEMONS of the stock)?
Not sure any quick test would tell you anything, but iozone (http://www.iozone.org/)would give it a good workout.

2) What would be the best way to transport them?
You can leave the drives in and pack it up as you described.
