.

Having done reviews for QNAP before we couldn't skip their booth. The most noticeable new device is the NMP 1000. Instead of aiming at storage it is a full HD media player capable of of utilizing storage on QNAP NAS devices and other network storage. It still has space for a single hard drive and allows Bittorrent downloads to fill it with media. To speed up access the NMP 1000 can also be connected to a PC directly using USB or eSATA. It should be available in the next months.http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/3205/qnap4.jpg

On the NAS front QNAP is refreshing several low end models, which basically means they got a faster processor. This should result in higher performance. On the software side many of the faster models are getting a huge firmware update. The new web based GUI utilizes AJAX to make things easier to navigate and look a lot better.

I wonder how the RSS , BT capable Media player is going to change our way of living.

With RSS and BT, it means our favorite video shows will be automatically downloaded to our NAS Media Player. Cars, it means TopGear, or a English Dub of Naruto every Saturday.

Just wondering on the price.

That's a good point. I know that the built-in BT clients on a some NAS' work better than others. This is the first time I've seen the RSS feeder directly on the device however. Pretty interesting.

Or, a Readynas Duo competitor. That would be great news as it may convince Netgear that its time for a Duo performance boost!

looks sweet !! I cant wait for an RSS BT client ... my ISP (which is awesome in a lot of ways) does not have a news server so SABnzbd wont work for me.

No HDMI on the NMP 1000 =( oh well, not that I would stop using my apple tv w/ Boxee & XBMC to stream from my NAS

You may refer to the photos of the grand launch @ QNAP booth in CeBit 2009. http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/05/qnaps-family-of-nas-drives-arrives-at-cebit-eyes-on/

We plan to arrange to submit a series of product for review soon after the tough+ busy period. (which we owe to Tim for quite a period)

Cheers,
Ivan

2 Bay looks good. But both Netgear and Dlink dont complete at all.
Qnap have much better Software and performance.

I hope we get a decent price similar to Dlink NAS :D

Edit: I also notice there is a TS219 which is similar shape to current TS209.

So what is the new 2 Bay aiming at?
